The evidence is mounting – ORGANIC coconut oil is good for you – check out the alzheimer’s and OCO video!

by on Jan.31, 2012, under Acupuncture/OM, Nutrition

I am so DANGED excited about this video. This supports all the stuff I’ve been telling you about organic coconut oil and validates what I’m certain of:

1. Healing/preventing from illness is often a matter of keeping your awareness up and paying attention.

2. AND healing may be difficult to face, but once you’ve made the decision to go through your own processes, healing is not hidden and esoteric only to be performed by institutions with big degrees and lots of money.

Notes about the video:

1. It appears Dr. Newport uses a microwave to melt Steve’s (her husband) OCO. I am big OPPONENT of microwaves. I’ll give you a link in this month’s e-newsletter

that speaks to that.

2. When it highlights the “hydrogenated cottonseed oil”, you can see “high fructose corn syrup” right above it. When I go back and watch the video again, I’m sure I’ll see more awful ingredients, but that was the one caught my eye the first time. One of the details about HFCS is that it prematurely ages your liver. I’ll also have a link in this month’s e-newsletter about why you should quit soda – stay tuned true believers.

Gratitude to salt and a little nod to Spring!

by on Mar.02, 2011, under Acupuncture/OM, Nutrition

Click this link for the salt article that I’d like to you read about the real deal regarding salt. It’s like I’ve long believed. It’s not always just about what you eat. It’s also about the QUALITY of what you eat. I have been working on an article in this regard, because of my cucumber experience. I had the opportunity more by serendipity than mental planning where I had 3 cucumbers together. 1 was conventionally grown (a.k.a. with pesticides, etc.), one was grown organically (a.k.a. without pesticides, etc.) and the 3rd was grown in my garden (a.k.a. without pesticides and tended with love, etc.). The side by side taste difference was astounding:

1. The conventionally grown cucumber was slightly mushy with just a touch of al dente and absolutely no taste. As a matter of fact, it was a touch bitter. Cucumbers are not bitter.

2. The organically grown cucumber had better crisp to it and tasted much better than the conventionally grown. At that point in my experience of home grown vegetables (this experience was about 6 years ago), organic from the store was the best I’d had.

3. The homegrown cucumber was so crisp it snapped and had a sweetness to it that just can’t be described. It has to be experienced.  A little celtic sea salt and the cucumber was perfect. I’ve been using selina brand celtic sea salt for about 7 yrs now.

Gentle Tiger-ites, start a revolution – grow your own garden. Spring is around the corner and it’s peeking at you. :)

Organic Coconut Oil, Alzheimer’s and then some…YES!

by on Oct.05, 2010, under Acupuncture/OM, Nutrition

HELLO GENTLE TIGER-ITES!  – I received this in my inbox today from http://www.anh-usa.org and had to share it as quickly as I could. It confirmed some suspicion based on logic that I’ve had for about 2 years: That medium chain fatty acids feed the brain and can help prevent and now with this article, REVERSE brain/nervous system diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. I can imagine a few of you are in the same situation…sooooooo, let’s get on with the recipe. After the end of the recipe (continue reading…)

Mozzarella, tomato, basil and some EVOO! for you…

by on Aug.07, 2010, under Acupuncture/OM, Nutrition

I mentioned in the last post that my wife Mindy has this wicked good onion, bacon and walnut with feta salad recipe that she makes occasionally. Well, the other night she made something besides that salad. It was better(?)…I don’t know if the salad we had the other night was better than what I’m about tell you, but that salad is GOOD and so is this one…okay, this salad is super simple to make, cooling and tasty. Adults and kids alike dig this salad. Blueberry Corn Summer Salad…

by on Aug.05, 2010, under Acupuncture/OM, Nutrition

I’m not a big proponent of cold raw salad, but I eat them occasionally. Well, my wife Mindy found a humdinger of a salad. When she mentioned that it had blueberries and corn in it – I frowned and didn’t think I’d find it all that tasty, but she wanted to try it and she has this onion, bacon and walnut with feta salad that I scarf down whenever she makes it. Her mom, Janet, makes that salad well too. Anyway, so she made this blueberry corn salad and I FLIPPED! (continue reading…)

A beef stock recipe like you WISH you had, now you do. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT miss this one…OH SO GOOD!

by on Jan.18, 2010, under Nutrition

Like I promised on the Gentle Tiger Acupuncture LLC Facebook page and I’m sure it was also there on our Twitter page, THE beef stock recipe that will leave you feeling full and satisfied, whether you drink it straight, which I recommend in chronic and/or serious illness, but also if you’re working on losing weight, increasing energy, feeling satisfied without overeating or working to gain some weight (How can I lose weight OR gain weight with this Miguel? – the body as a self regulating organism will know what to do with this fat – it’ll either use it to help flush out toxins thereby losing weight orrrrrr hold onto it and help you gain a healthy amount of weight). And let’s remember that it’s just a danged good beef stock even if there’s NOTHING wrong with you. (continue reading…)
